snowshoing
This was a first for us. Not exactly what I expected, but still fun and it was certainly effective in exhausting the kids.
Then afterwards... roasting hotdogs and marshmallows in my friends backyard. What, you don't do that in the snowy 30 degree weather too?
(Um, yea, that trampoline wasn't going anywhere. The kids were basically just jumping on a big slab of ice.)

Stripping Completed
You can go HERE to see it before.
So what do you think?
There's a lot of primer and paint left if anyone's interested.
However, I wouldn't recommend the stripping part (after many hours I ended up hiring my neighbor to finish the job with his sander, best money I ever spent).
Just paint over the old stuff.

The Guys
While we were in TX I got to hook up with some of my old friends. It always makes me feel young again to get together with these guys and reminisce the good times. Maybe it's because I'm the youngest one of the bunch, or maybe it's just that things were so much more care free and fun back then. I'm not saying I don't love my life now, I do, but do you ever wish you could have those crazy, all night, anything goes, and all kinds of things you would never anticipate end up happening kind of nights. I think that was one of the best things about having the majority of friends being guys, it just makes for more fun and less drama.
Anyway, I'm glad to see that some of them are now starting to settle down, get married, and even have kids. They have all turned out to be very successful, wonderful men and I like to think that maybe I had something to do with that... but probably not, I know they had a lot to do with how I turned out. So for those of you who couldn't be there, you were missed, and as for the rest of you, I look forward to the next time.
My best friend for a lot of years.
Now he has a wife and a brand new sweet baby boy.
Miss you guys.
I just had to post this picture that my friend PJ took of Dillon.
I love it!

The Snake Farm
Seriously, I don't think I've laughed this hard in a l o n g time. My dad took us all to the Snake Farm close to San Antonio. In addition to many snakes, they also have monkeys, alligators, a zebra, a warthog, and a bunch of other weird and unexpected animals for this little whole in the wall in the middle of no where.
Well we decided to take the kids into the "petting zoo" area. This is more like a "get attacked" area. Instantly the animals were all over Travis, (he was the only one with a bag of feed), and the llama, (who was bigger than him), was his shadow. The kids were excited at first, but they soon turned terrified as the animals seemed to gang up on them all. My dad came into the fenced area to try to help us get some of the kids out, as the animals seemed to have us barricaded in so we couldn't leave, and this small little billy goat started ramming my dad. It would just back up and charge at him over and over ramming him with it's small little head. As if this wasn't funny enough, I put Dillon up on this bench so the animals couldn't reach him, (trying to help him feel a little more secure). All I hear is Dillon telling Molly that she should come up there with him because he was safe now and them I notice that same goat jump up on the bench and start ramming Dillon. So Dillon is scared to death and about two feet away from the end of the bench, as the goat keeps ramming him closer and closer to the end. I run over and reach out to him over this huge mud puddle that he would soon be pushed into. I'm reaching for him and yelling for him to jump to me, and at the last second, right before he was to fall, he reaches out and grabs my hand and I quickly lead him out of the gates. I felt bad for him, but I was laughing so hard I felt like I couldn't breath and all I wanted to do was take the kids back in there for a few more laughs. I know, there's something wrong with me. You'll just have to see for yourself.
(you can see the bench I put Dillon on in the right side of the picture)
Charlee was a little freaked out, but did a pretty good job taking control of the animals.
Molly seemed to enjoy herself, but got out of there quickly.
Dillon was pretty terrified the whole time, and as it turns out, with good reason.
(the goat up on Travis is the goat that eventually took on Dillon, feisty little thing)
The best thing about traveling in the motor home.

More Fun in TX
Peter Pan Mini-Golf. (Lana, this one's for you)
A stroll through an old fashioned ice cream and candy shop on SOCO. Every child's dream.
Some good Mariachi music and tamale making at the Austin Children's Museum.
A run through the park and a ride on the train at Zilker Park.
Hanging out with the cousins.
Dillon out helping my brother plant trees in my parents soon to be orchard.
Finally, a picture of the kids in their Christmas outfits.
