"Barney's Little Lessons"

No more cribs... EVER... for this family.

Charlie was happy to retire the crib and has been doing great in her new big girl bed. No more throwing her body over the side with the possibility of a fractured skull every time. Her favorite book lately is "Going to My Big Bed!: Barney's Little Lessons"
and she recites it as we're reading it. My baby's growing up.

Indigo Lake

We took the kids to Indigo Lake to run around on the trails, play in the water, and watch the train go by. It's nice to get out of the city on occasion and enjoy a picnic in the serene beauty of nature. It went a little downhill when Dillon got curious about a couple's fishing rod and ended up with a hook stuck in his finger. A lesson learned. Hopefully.

This Is Kirtland

We took Molly and Dillon to see "This Is Kirtland". It's amazing the dedication that goes into this performance. I have had the privilege of attending this show every year for the last four years and hope to be able to continue this tradition. Thank you to all those who work so hard to make "This Is Kirtland" possible.

Hiram House Camp

Dillon had a great two weeks at Hiram House Camp. His camp reminds me of the summer camp I used to get shipped off to for three week every summer growing up, however I stayed overnight and Dillon was just there for the day. It's a super fun traditional style camp with archery, horseback riding, nature walks, canoeing, etc. Molly, unfortunately, didn't make it in this year but loved the last two years. I have to say it was a nice break to get the two of them away from each other for a couple of weeks. Of course now it's over and the fighting can resume.

Legacy Live?

We like to go to Legacy on the weekends and listen/dance to the (free) live music. I don't remember it being nearly as crowded in the past. I think we're going to have to switch over to Thursday nights on the Wiley lawn. The music is still great, not nearly as many people, and they give out free ice cream. You can't beat that.

Lake Erie

We hit the beach with some friends. I love Lake Erie on a hot summer's day. The kids love it more.




At least most of them do.

Camping in Cleveland

We went camping with a few friends and had a good time. We had the campgrounds all to ourselves and the kids could run wild.


After a water balloon fight and playing on the slip n' slide the kids were content to just play in the fire.


It's funny how Dillon wouldn't even let me touch his splinter, but he would let Tommy's dad dig into his finger with a huge knife.


The babies had a nice soak in the sinks.


The kids put on what they called a "show". It was really them just running around and screaming with the occasional tune thrown in.

All in all, a really good time. It was especially interesting Friday night before we went to bed to watch three guys, a doctor, a lawyer, and a dentist, all standing around trying to figure out how to make an effective trap for a raccoon. It didn't work. Maybe next time.

Another Fun One!

Safety Town

The city we live in holds a little camp, free of charge, for entering kindergartners...
"Safety Town"
They attend every day for one week and learn all about safety, including traffic rules, memorizing their address, and staying away from strangers. They get to visit the fire station, check out the police cars, and take a ride on a school bus. At the end of the week they have a little graduation ceremony and then they get to play in the safety village. Dillon enjoyed camp and is still particular about lifting his bicycle helmet a little at intersections and telling me he is listening for sirens. I guess you can't be too safe right?

Thanks Grandma and Papa

We got a fun package from Grandma and Papa the other day. Lots of goodies from their trip to Hawaii. There isn't a picture of the yummy macadamia nut cookies cause they were gone in a flash.

Soccer Camp 2009

Dillon really took to soccer this year, I think we might have found a good way to burn off some of that extra energy. He was really pretty good and it was a lot of fun watching him kick that ball around. Too bad they haven't created some type of "snow soccer" sport so we could keep this up through the winter.
