Worms and Centipedes and Stuff

I just sent the kids in to the bathroom to wash the whip cream off their bodies. They have whip cream on their bodies because they thought maybe it was similar to sunscreen (or sunscream as Dillon would call it) and maybe it would be appropriate to rub it on their arms, legs, faces, and feet.
Anyhow when they went into the bathroom they noticed someone had used the toilet and not flushed which frequently happens with the children in this household, but that is a story in its own. They started talking about how a robber must have used the bathroom and not flushed the toilet because they were sure that it wasn't one of them. Then Dillon asked me what a robbers peeps looks like. I told him that it would probably look just like his peeps. He told me that he was sure that it would have bugs in it like worms and centipedes and stuff. I really do wonder what must go through that little guys head, because I got to tell you the visual that was going through my head at that time was not so pretty.

One Down, A Bunch To Go

I know this isn't the best picture, but the point is that Molly finally lost her first tooth. This little tooth was also the first tooth she ever got when she was three months old and was the only tooth she had until she was six months old. It finally loosened up about four or five days ago by the adult tooth that was growing up underneath it. For the last two days all she has done is complain about that tooth and how she can't eat anything and how much it hurts and how she doesn't want anything to touch it. This morning I finally got so sick of hearing about it I asked her if I could see if it had gotten any looser over the night and after much hesitation she finally let me touch the tooth. Quick as a flash I yanked it right out and she had no idea what had happened, until she did and then she was overjoyed. That was that.

A Berry Great Day

Well if any of you are confused about where we went today then you can just read Charlee's shirt. We had a great time at Rainbow Farm U-Pick Strawberry Patch today. It's a bit farther than Patterson's, but way worth it for much larger and nicer berries.




Our older children were actually pretty good at helping us gather lots of berries, and the younger ones stayed occupied eating lots of berries so it really made for a good overall family/friend outing.


We even found a strawberry that looks like lips.

Got Milk

I grew up in Austin Texas and I would certainly consider myself a city girl, but there is definitely a part of me that loves the country. My dad finally bought a ranch, about 180 acres, a couple hours outside of Austin a few years ago. He can't convince my mom to move out there so they still live in the Austin area and he just commutes out a couple of times a week. Anyhow, he finally got a herd. I guess this makes him a real cowpoke or something. I'm excited to go back and visit in October, I know the kids are going to love going out there and driving the tractors out to the cows and feeding them and stuff. It will be a lot of fun as long as we can steer clear of the patties.

This is an old house from the turn of the century that they haven't fully demoed yet. We always have fun "exploring" the "haunted" old house when we go to Poppy's ranch. It's pretty cool.

Par 8

We had our friends, the Birdno's, come and stay with us for a few days. They have three kids all around the same ages as our kids and it made for some high action and good times. We took them to Patterson's fruit farm along with some other friends to do some strawberry picking, but unfortunately they were closed for the day. Instead we let the kids run around and play until we decided to walk down to a pond on the golf course and check out the water.


The roughs were pretty hard to make it through for some of the smaller ones.



When we got down there we could here the strangest sound, like something was barking at us. It was loud and kind of spooky.

Finally we found it, it sounded MUCH louder than it was. The kids were fascinated and they all had to have several looks.

Dear Dillon

Dear Dillon,
At least twice a day you say something either profound or hilarious and I always try to remember to write these things down, but always seem to fail. Well there are a few things I want to write down and remember right now.
Thank you for such a beautiful prayer yesterday. You wanted to say the prayer before dinner and I have to admit I kind of expected your typical goofy, lets eat, pre-meal prayer, but instead you so reverently gave thanks for our healthy bodies that allow us to run and play and asked for blessings of continued good health and happiness. You have such an amazing spirit to you.
Thank you for your humor. While we were with friends down by the pond the other day a giant dragonfly passed by you and a friend of yours, your friend said "look at that giant dragonfly" and you said " It was probably a remote control one".
And thank you for your vivid imagination. For a while when you would get mad at me you would say "You're Fired Mommy". I'm not sure where you heard it, but I figured you just must
have picked it up somewhere. When thinking a little more about this I realized you must not really know what this phrase means although you were now saying it like twenty times a day. So when I asked you to be a little more detailed with me about what "You're Fired" really means, I found it meant, in your mind, that I was actually on fire. Now while I'm not sure it's so healthy to picture your mother actually on fire just because she says you can't have another cookie, I do still appreciate you vivid imagination. I am also glad, however, that that phase has now passed.
I have to say that this is only scratching the surface. I promise to try to write more of this down. You do so much to amaze me everyday. Dillon, you make me so proud. Love, Mommy

Dads

Now I don't want you all to think I forgot about Fathers Day or didn't think it post worthy. We have had company in town over the past few days and while we have been having a great time, I have found myself neglecting the blogging circuit which I must now make up for. I mean I certainly couldn't and wouldn't let an opportunity like this pass me by seeing as I know the three best dads in the world.

Happy Birthday Matey

Dillon turned four in April but we had to wait until the weather warmed up before we could have his pirate pool party. I want to post some of the highlights from the party but first I want to spend just a minute on this pool, which I purchased back in March and left in the box until the morning of the party, and how that whole thing went down.

I mean I thought this thing was going to be huge. Dillon was only allowed to invite four friends (since he is turning four) so I figured his four friends and their siblings along with my kids would all be fine in this HUGE pool, right? That was a definite negative.
But other than the shrinking pirate ship pool and the scorching, unbearably hot weather, the party was fun. Here are those pictures I mentioned earlier...

The Belated Memorial

Schools Out For The Summer

This time of the year is always very bittersweet for me. I love to see them progress, but I hate to see them grow. I do, however, LOVE the summer. School is officially out and I just wanted to post some highlights from their year end luaus. I had a great time planning them, and the kids had an even better time partying with their friends.








Now that school is out we can spend our time doing more important things than reading and writing, like going to the beach and having fun.
